Cut Piece Fabric Amount & Size
Body   1 2 squares, 4½" x 4½"
Tail, comb & beak   2 5 squares, 1½" x 1½"
Background   3 6 squares, 1½" x 1½"
    4 2 rectangles, 1½" x 3½"
    5 1 rectangle, 3½" x 6½"
    6 1 rectangle, 1½" x 2½"
 

Other Materials

   
Eye  - 1 button
Legs - Stitched with embroidery floss or perle cotton

 

Assembly  
Make one large half-square triangle unit from body squares #1.

Make five small half-square triangle units from background pieces #3 and tail, comb and beak pieces #2

 

                 

            Mark        Stitch         Trim           Press

 

Lay out the pieces as shown.

Sew together in rows.

Sew rows together.

Embroider legs and feet.

Add a button for the eye.
