You will create
contrast with all neutrals in this quilt. You may choose cool
neutrals such as black, white and shades of gray or warm neutrals
such as muslin and tan (with darker tans edging towards or including
browns), or combine both warm and cool neutrals in the same quilt.
Of course, recipe is included in your pattern.
In the
pictured quilt, I have included all three values - lights, mediums
and darks. Most of my neutrals are the warmer tans, beiges, and
muslins, and I included browns, too. I have also included a few
cooler neutrals.
FINISHED QUILT
SIZE: 72½” x 80½”
YARDAGE:
One strip, 5" x 42", of 45 different fabrics. You can duplicate
fabrics, if you desire. If you don't duplicate fabrics, you will get
a more scrappy look. Choose warm or cool neutrals or both. Make sure
you include more than one value.
Backing
Fabric*: 5 yards (horizontal seam)
ADDITIONAL SUPPLIES:
Sewing machine in good working order
Sewing supplies you regularly use such as thread, straight pins,
scissors, seam ripper, etc.
Rotary cutting equipment: mat (18” x 24”), ruler (6” x 24”) and
cutter with sharp blade.
Bias Square Ruler or 6” x 6” Square Ruler. This is important.
CUTTING:
From 24 of your fabric strips, cut 8 squares from each strip, 5" x
5" (192 squares total). These squares will become Half Square
Triangle Blocks.
From the remaining 21 strips, cut 2 strips, 2 ½" x 42" (42 strips
total). These strips will become Four Patch Blocks.
*I have
added an optional border to my finished quilt top. The quilt looks
great with or without a border. If you think you may wish to add a
border, please wait to purchase your backing fabric until you have
seen my quilt.
