Lemon
Blueberry Pound Cake combines two complementary colors,
yellow-orange and blue-violet. Very colorful, this quilt has an
unusual circular block and circular setting.
FINISHED QUILT SIZE: 80½” x 96½”
YARDAGE:
13 different blue-violet fabrics, ½ yard each
13 different yellow-orange fabrics, ½ yard each
8 different yellow-orange fabrics, one strip each, 4½” x 42”
2 different blue-violet fabrics, one strip of one, 4½” x 42”,
and 2 strips of the other, 4½” x 42”
Hint: Blue-violet, sometimes called periwinkle, can be a
challenging color to choose. Be careful not to choose fabrics that
are too blue or too purple. I start choosing blue-violet by looking
at both the blues and the purples (violets) in the fabric store. If
there are fabrics in with the blues that look purple, they are
probably periwinkle. If there are fabrics in with the purples that
look blue, they are probably periwinkle.
Likewise, yellow-orange can be a challenging color to choose. Again,
look at both the yellows and oranges in the fabric store. If there
is a fabric in the oranges that looks yellow or if there is a fabric
in with the yellows that looks orange, these fabrics are probably
yellow-orange.
Having said this, try to enjoy the process of choosing your fabrics.
This quilt will work even if some fabrics are a little too yellow,
too orange, too blue, or too purple. These will add variety and
interest to your quilt.

On the back of the 8 squares, mark the diagonal with a ballpoint pen
or pencil.
From the yellow-orange fabrics, cut:

From these strips, cut:
44 squares, 2½" x 2½" and
4 rectangles, 2½" x 4½"
On the back of 32 of the squares (not all of
them, just 32), mark the diagonal with a ballpoint pen or pencil.
