Inspired by a wonderful palette of
rusts, this Pumpkin Pie quilt will knock your socks off with its
richness. Rust is a color seldom chosen by quilters because it is a
member of that awkward orange family. But wait until you use dark
orange - rust - in a quilt! It says warmth, richness and autumn in
a way no other color can. Of course, a Pumpkin Chiffon Pie recipe
is included!

CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS
For the Four Patch Blocks and Sashing:
• Cut 1 strip, 4” x 44” from each of the 16 different medium and
dark rusts.
• Cut each strip in half lengthwise to yield 2 strips from each
fabric, 2” x 44”, 32 strips total.
For the Half Square Triangles:
• If you are using fat 1/8's, cut 1 strip from each fat 1/8th, 5” x
22”, 12 strips total.
• If you are using ¼ yards, cut 1 strip from each ¼ yard, 5” x 44”,
6 strips total.
• Cut 48 rust squares, 5” x 5”, from these strips. If you are using
fat 1/8s, you will get 4 squares per
strip. If you are using ¼ yards, you will get 8 squares per strip.
Also for the Half Square Triangles:
• Cut 6 strips, 5” x 44”, from the tan, cream or light peach fabric.
• From each strip, cut 8 squares, 5” x 5”, for a total of 48
squares.
For the Side Triangles:
• Cut 2 strips, 10” x 44”, from the tan, cream or light peach
fabric.
• From these strips, cut 5 squares, 10” x 10”.
• Cut these on both diagonals (as seen in Figure 1) to yield 4
triangles per
square, 20 triangles total.
For the Corner Triangles:
• Cut 1 strip, 14” x 44”.
• From this strip, cut 2 squares, 14” x 14”.
• Cut these squares on only one diagonal(as seen in Figure 2), to

For the small squares on the edges next to the Side Triangles:
• Cut 1 strip, 3 ½” x 44”.
• From this strip, cut 10 squares, 3 ½” x 3 ½”. |
